An Air Malta aircraft has been grounded in Paris pending checks following a  lightning strike.

No one was injured and the aircraft landed safely at Charles de Gaulle airport.

The incident happened this morning.

The return flight had been due to land in Malta at 1pm. The airline is planning to operate a relief aircraft this evening with a team of engineers to service the aircraft, check all systems and certify it fit for flight.

As a consequence of this incident other Air Malta flights, including another to Charles de Gaulle this afternoon, were affected.
