Updated - Adds video comments - A call for expressions of interest for the operation of a new bus service has been completed except for some minor legal matters, and the government intends to issue it by the end of this week, Transport Minister Joe Mizzi said this morning.
The minister acknowledged that this was some days overdue but said this was because of a legal review.
Mr Mizzi said it was his intention to close the call within a month after its issue and to have an agreement signed with the new operator "as quickly as possible". He said, however, that the government would act cautiously and responsibly.
The agreement will be based on new routes expected to be announced sometime today. The new routes were drawn up following consultation with local councils and feedback from the public.
