Roberta Zahra de Domenico took this picture of the peaceful scene in fields near Mt Carmel Hospital in Attard this morning as Malta and especially Gozo, counted the cost of yesterday's storm.

No one was injured, but a number of roads were damaged and some cars were dragged by torrents of rainwater in Marsalforn, Xlendi and near Mosta, among other localities. Several walls collapsed, blocking roads, and farmers saw soil and crops carried away or damaged by hail, particularly in Ramla Valley and at Nadur.

The heaviest rainfall yesterday was recorded at Dingli with 90.4mm followed by Xewkija and Xaghra in Gozo with 56.2mm and 51.6mm.
