Volunteer lifeguards from the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps (ERRC) have taken part in  helicopter approach training sessions held by Armed Forces of Malta Air Wing.

The training consisted of theoretical lectures about safety aimed at minimising risks when using a helicopter during a rescue operation.  This was followed by a practical session involving helicopter approaches and conveying a 'casualty' on a stretcher.

The ERRC provides a lifeguard and water rescue service everyday in Comino during the summer .On many occasions, casualties need to be flown to hospital by an AFM helicopter.
