A Maltese patrol boat carrying an advance team to prepare for the reopening of the Maltese embassy has arrived at Tripoli harbour.

P-61 carried a team from the AFM's Explosives Ordinance Disposal Unit of 3 Regiment and C (Special Duties) Coy of 1 Regiment which will 'sweep' the offices of the Maltese embassy before the embassy fully reopens tomorrow.

The embassy will be temporarily headed by diplomat Nader Salem Rizzo.

At the height of the Libyan uprising, some embassy functions were performed by locally recruited staff, but the offices were closed. Their reopening tomorrow means the embassy can again start issuing visas for travel to Malta.
