The incident happened at about 7.30 p.m. when the patrol boat, P-51,intercepted the Sparviero 20.5 nautical miles off San Dimitri Point, Gozo, inside the Maltese Fisheries Conservation and Management Zone

The AFM said the boat was boarded and the soldiers found evidence that the vessel had  been engaged in fishing activities. The boat was then escorted to Boiler Wharf and over to officials from the Fisheries Control Division and the police for further investigation.
