A fireworks petard was found at the maritime base of the Armed Forces of Malta today.

The AFM said that following the weekend feast (at Msida) the Maritime
Squadron conducted a search at Haywharf Base for fireworks' burn debris and any unexploded shells.

An unexploded petard was found and made safe by the AFM's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit.

The police are investigating.

The petards were let off from the area near the Garden of Repose on the bastions overlooking the maritime base in Floriana.
