The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) in a statement said it is enlisting women to serve on the regular force.

After a basic military training course, successful recruits will be assigned to the 1st Regiment, and tasked to perform security duties at ‘A’ (Airport Security) Company in connection with access control procedures at the Malta International Airport.

Their duties will also include frisking women entering restricted areas within the airport.

On enlistment, the AFM recruits will be placed on salary Scale 16 with an initial salary of €10,755. After two years of service, they will proceed to salary Scale 15 and to salary scale 14 after four years.

Enlisted personnel may also become entitled to an AFM allowance of €21.50 every four weeks.

Successful applicants will be enlisted after the end of February and will be required to undergo a basic training course of five months.

Recruits may be discharged from service should they fail to achieve required standards.
