A judicial letter over the mid-air collision of two aircraft over Marsamxett Harbour two years ago has been filed in court by the Irish company Firewall Aviation Ltd against Flying Aces Ltd, organisers of the Aero GP.

In a judicial letter, Dr Franco Vassallo told the court that he was representing Firewall Aviation, crash survivor Edward William Goggins, and insurance company Allianz Marine & Aviation Versicherungs AG of London.

Dr Vassallo referred to the collision between an Extra 200 aircraft, owned by Firewall Aviation and piloted by Mr Goggins with a Yak 55 aircraft flown by Gabor Varga.

The incident occured during an air race organised by Flying Aces Limited. Mr Varga lost his life as a result of the collision. Mr Goggins parachuted safely.

Dr Vassallo called upon Flying Aces Ltd to make good the damages sustained as a result of the collision, including the value of the Extra 200 aircraft which was destroyed.

The letter was also signed by lawyers Nicholas Valenzia and Joseph Camilleri and legal procurator Christina Fiorini Lowell.
