The governemnt has appointed an advisory committee to handle the transfer of the Valletta open market to Ordnance Street, close to city gate.

The committee, appointed by Economic Affairs Minister Chris Cardona, was tasked with improving open markets all over Malta and Gozo as well as the conditions of work of the vendors.

The ministry said one of its purposes is to strengthen regulation on European lines in the interests of consumers.

The ministry did not reveal the composition of the committee.
