Since 2003, three Slovakian children have been matched with Maltese families for eventual adoption, Family Minister Michael Farrugia told Chris Said (PN) yesterday.

The process for these children, together with another one from Albania, to be formally adopted, is continuing.

Malta signed a bilateral agreement with Albania in 1996 and another one with Slovakia in 2014.

Answering another question by Dr Said, the minister said Malta’s central adoption authority had never received an official declaration from its Russian counterpart that adoptions from Russia to Malta had been stopped.
