A project targeting adolescents from the Cottonera and Kalkara region is being supported by Bank of Valletta, through a donation the bank forwarded to the Appoġġ Cottonera Community Services.

The project targets young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, aged between 11 and 13 and who are already being followed by Appoġġ social workers. The aim is to support these adolescents and provide them with an opportunity to emerge from high social risk.

Through this donation, BoV will be assisting Appoġġ to provide these young people with informal formative education, an opportunity to learn and practice social skills, information on several issues pertaining to adolescence, the possibility to engage themselves in healthy activities such as drama, sports and art, as well an opportunity to integrate within the community.

Agenzija Appoġġ's Cottonera Community Services work closely with the Cottonera and Kalkara communities to facilitate and encourage a process of change within the community through local participation. The main aims of this service are to enhance the local potential, offer optimal individual and family social work services that are aimed especially at the most vulnerable in the community, while taking into consideration the context, culture and everyday life of the residents.
