One hundred and sixty-two politicians have signed Early Day Motion 403 Wild Animals In Circuses, tabled by former Minister Jim Fitzpatrick MP, which states there is no obstacle to a ban and that a ban should be implemented.
This shows strong cross-party support in the UK Parliament for a ban on animals in circuses, and demonstrates the depth of feeling as this is one of the top numbers of signatories to an animal welfare EDM.
Animal Defenders Inter-national volunteer Kate Werner on Tuesday pulled a life-size inflatable elephant into place in Victoria Tower Gardens in Westminster, London, to highlight the call by ADI to ban the use of wild animals in circuses in the UK.
