Describing Renzo Piano's plans for the new-look entrance to Valletta as "reasonable and interesting", Alternattiva Demokratika yesterday said it supported the proposals.

Green Party spokesman Carmel Cacopardo said AD preferred the Parliament building to be sited elsewhere but it welcomed the green concepts in the design.

Mr Cacopardo also welcomed the "sensitivity" shown to the opera house ruins.

"While there could be reasons justifying the criticism of the individual components of the project, the proposals should be seen as a whole," he said.
