Alternattiva Demokratika leader Harry Vassallo said today that the bus service needed to be liberalised and extended to new areas.
He told a press conference that although the buses were being changed, the service had not improved.
Dr Vassallo said the bus service needed to be improved so that fewer people would use private cars in Malta's increasingly congested streets. Bus lanes, therefore, should also be extended to more areas for faster bus trips.
He said that in a coalition government, AD would make specific proposals to reward those who pollute least and would propose a mass transit system, such as an underground, to make transportation cleaner and easier.
