This general election will only produce real change if a third party is elected to Parliament, Alternativa Demokratika leader Harry Vassallo said this afternoon.
Dr Vassallo said the long-expected announcement of the election date had caused uncertainty and harmed the economy, and AD felt therefore that the election date should be fixed, as is the case in other countries.
Dr Vassallo said having a third party in Parliament would mean an end to the situation where “voters are forced to vote for the corrupt to avoid the violent, or for the arrogant to keep out the incompetent.”
He said AD wanted to promote the concept of coalitions in Parliament so that the country could make use of all the resources available to it.
