Alternattiva Demokratika chairman Harry Vassallo and secretary general Victor Galea yesterday presented a number of trees to BirdLife Malta director Tolga Temuge and Foresta 2000 park manager, Ray Vella.

The presentation took place in Mellieha.

BirdLife, AD said, was one of the organisations at the forefront of raising awareness about the need to protect the environment.

Dr Vassallo and Mr Temuge augured they would meet again at the same site next spring to enjoy the first spring without hunting.

AD hoped the government would abide by EU regulations and put an end to spring hunting.
