Żminijietna – Voice of the Left expresses satisfaction at the fact that, for the first time, a woman has finally been nominated to serve on the European Court of Human Rights.

The European selection committee has been for long insisting that one of the nominees had to be a woman in order to achieve gender equality. This is a milestone in the history of the judiciary in Malta. It not only reflects gender equality but also sheds light on the competent abilities of female judges serving in the Maltese Courts of Justice.

While Żminijietna augurs success to all the nominated judges, it notes that the nominated woman has been selected due to her competence and not only because of her gender.
