Andrea Camilleri, the man who two weeks ago was charged with scalding his partner's infant child, was today remanded in custody after allegedly breaching  bail conditions.

Andrea Camilleri, 29, of Luqa, was granted bail by Magistrate Edwina Grima on Wednesday against a deposit of €1,000 and a personal guarantee of €10,000.

Police Inspector Jurgen Vella told a court today that the accused, using his mobile phone, had made a number of text messages with threats to the child's mother, in breach of the bail conditions.

Defence counsel David Farrugia Sacco said there was no concrete proof that the accused was the person who had used the mobile phone, and his client, therefore, should not be remanded in custody.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli, however, remanded the accused in custody.
