A 39-year-old man was condemned to a six-month suspended jail term today after he admitted to having tried to injure a dog in St Julian's yesterday.

Giulio Massimo Giovanni Marconi, who was born in Britain and lives in St Julian's, admitted to having tried to commit the crime but did not go through with it because of something which was accidental. He was also accused of not having observed proper care in the possession of a gun and ammunition.

The man pleaded guilty and was handed a six-month jail term suspended for 18 months. The gun and ammunition were confiscated.

Inspectors G Scerri and L Bonello prosecuted.
