An Għarb man was yesterday remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to trafficking cocaine and possessing heroin.

The court, presided by Magistrate Paul Coppini, heard how the police arrested John Sultana following days of investigations and police surveillance, following his every movement.

The police had received a tip-off that the man was trafficking drugs from his home.

When they raided his house last Thursday afternoon, the police found around 15 grammes of cocaine and a small amount of heroin. He was charged with trafficking cocaine and possessing the drug with intent to traffic it. The police also found several drug-related items, including weighing scales.

Police Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted.
