An Eritrean man was remanded in custody yesterday after he was allegedly caught with 10 grams of cannabis and €150 in cash during a surprise inspection in Paceville on Tuesday.

Ibrahim Mohammed Shalh Adem, 25, denied possession of cannabis with intent to sell after he was allegedly caught carrying the substance inside a pack of cigarettes. The prosecution said the drug was found in a way denoting it was not for personal use.

Police Inspector Malcolm Bondin prosecuted.

Lawyer Leontine Calleja appeared for the accused as legal aid.
