A man charged with defiling and engaging in sexual acts with three girls, aged 17, 16 and 12, had child and bestiality images on his mobile, a magistrate heard yesterday.

The 25-year-old from Msida, whose name cannot be published by court order, was remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to defiling and participating in sexual activities with the minors and with being in possession of and distributing child pornography.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke was told that the sexual activities consisted of kissing and touching the underage girls. One girl is the daughter of the man’s current partner and the others are friends who live in the vicinity. Defence lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri requested bail but the prosecution, led by Police Inspectors Joseph Busuttil and Roderick Agius, strongly objected.

Due to a risk of contamination of evidence, the request was denied.
