A man who admitted to being an accomplice in a burglary was yesterday placed under probation for three years after spilling the beans on the alleged mastermind.

Martin Agius, 26, admitted to aiding another man to break into a house in Safi on January 3 between 5 p.m. and 11.30 p.m. and taking over €2,329 worth of items and cash.

The other man has yet to be arraigned but Mr Agius gave the police all the information about the burglary, going into detail about the crime in the eight statements he gave to them.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke took into consideration his early guilty plea and his full cooperation with the police before she decided to place him under probation for three years.

Lawyers Franco Debono and Charmaine Cherrett appeared for Mr Agius.
