CLUB, the acclaimed Maltese production which focuses on a group of teenagers as they deal with the aftermath of a tragic accident, will be staged in Scotland next week.

The Teatru Manoel Youth Theatre production will be held at the Chrysalis Festival at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh.

Now in its second year, the Chrysalis Festival is a platform for ambitious performances by young theatre-makers. The festival is the only one of its kind in Scotland and it offers a new experience for audiences new to youth theatre arts.

Established in February 2012 under the umbrella of Toi Toi (the Teatru Manoel Education Programme), the goal of TMYT is to nurture talented young actors through training and performance opportunities. TMYT offers training and performance experience for young people aged between 16 and 25 years.

The principal tutor for TMYT is Denise Mulholland, under whose direction, the Youth Theatre has already produced several memorable works. CLUB was originally commissioned for the 2013 Żigużajg International Arts Festival for Children & Young People.

Hailed as a top-notch youth theatre group by the London-based theatre Chickenshed, this is the second time since inception that TMYT have been invited to perform CLUB in Scotland, with Gillian Gourlay from the National Theatre of Scotland saying: “the power and strength of performance by TMYT is equal to that of any professional company I have seen. This is a young company of truly talented performers.”

The performances of CLUB will take place on November 18 and 20.
