Emocean Marine Europe, a division of the Abu Dhabi marine company, was officially launched in Malta during the opening night of the Valletta Boat Show on Thursday at Cottonera's Dock 1.
The launch event also served to unveil the brand's Voodoo 27-footer.
Emocean Marine managing director Hamad Bachi said that choosing an office in Malta as the company's European base was an obvious choice, thanks mainly to the country's sophisticated banking system, the language, and its geographical location.
Mr Bachi said his group was looking closely at the infrastructural development earmarked for the local boating and the yachting sector.
The company's fleet now includes nine boats in three optimised sizes (27-, 37- and 47-foot lengths), and in three ranges (Voodoo, Charm and Talisman).
Emocean Marine Europe managing director Yani Ellul said the continental arm aimed to be accessible to the region's customers. It was also working to expand its operations in four major markets by next year to establish a strong presence in these countries.
The first step will be the company's participation at the London Boat Show next January.
