Maltese businesses seeking to understand how digital technologies can contribute more effectively to their operations will be able to see and hear demonstrations without having to leave the island during the Malta International Digital Arts Expo (Mida).

The expo is organised by ICA Ltd in conjunction with the Ministry for Infrastructure, Transport and Communications.

Over the last few years, several developments in technology have influenced the digital world at both professional and amateur level. Increased computing power, processing speed, larger hard drives, software innovations and the rapid speed of broadband connectivity are transforming the way digital arts work.

Processes and techniques thought to be impossible a few years ago are now commonplace. Technologies from different disciplines are becoming readily available across all areas.

Professionals, semi-professionals and even enthusiastic amateurs know there are fast-moving changes taking place in their respective spheres.

This awareness and a hunger for more knowledge about today's and tomorrow's technology has sparked the demand for an integrated digital arts expo.

Mida will be the venue for an extensive series of workshops and seminars, hosted by the many confirmed participating organisations and presented by international experts in their areas of specialisation, the promoters said.

The workshops - like the whole of Mida - are not concentrating on the technology in its own right. They represent a combination of events, covering everything from the uses of online marketing campaigns to more technical sessions on how specific tools can be used to enhance a printed document, from the raw practicality of tools designed to ease workflow all the way to demonstrations of how a digital production can be enhanced artistically while remaining commercially viable.

Interested individual exhibitors, companies, organisations or government departments can contact ICA Ltd on 2141 7633 and/or damian@ica.com.mt for more information and/or to book a stand, seminar or workshop.

Held at the Hilton Conference Centre, the event will be open between 8.30 a.m. and 7 p.m. from July 3 to 6.

Entrance will be free of charge.
