German food isn’t really famous, apart from maybe Sauerkraut & Sausages, primarily because, in the Middle Ages and before, Germany used to be a land governed by hundreds of kingdoms, many influenced by invaders coming and going but always leaving behind them new traditions and new refined specialities.

Throughout Germany one will not only experience a huge variety of different wines and beer but whenever you go you will be able to discover some amazing culinary surprises either old and traditional or modern and sophisticated.

When it comes to German food there are simply too many headlines to gain an international reputation but food critics behold: German food is still very much undiscovered.

Germany has an abundance of German restaurants all using high quality German produce and ingredients for a food loving nation and people who very much enjoy socialising and eating out with friends and families.

In Germany, from the North Sea to the Alps, one will be able to taste well over 5,000 different kinds of beer on tap, made by no fewer than 1200 breweries.

All this comes with an equal variation of local cooking traditions like the simple apple of the earth which could be prepared either as salt potatoes, stewed potatoes or as fried potato cakes. Or what would Germany be without its famous sausages, eaten with plenty of mustard, prepared in plain hot water, boiled with spices, raw or fried as bratwurst?

For breakfast or at snack time, one of 300 healthy kinds of bread, rolls and fine pastries, made famous by German bakers, await you.
