Ruben Mifsud took these pictures of the historic Spitfire Mk IXb flying low over Grand Harbour on Friday.

The iconic World War II fighter can be seen above flying beneath the Barakka Gardens saluting guns, much to the delight of tourists.

It can be seen below overflying the Siege Bell Memorial - a salute to the island and the soldiers and civilians who defended it 70 years ago.

The Spitfire will take part in the Malta Air Show flying display over the airport this afternoon.
