An adult pink flamingo wades in the salt pans at Salina yesterday evening, captured by mobile phone. It was under the watchful eye of BirdLife officials and police after flying in earlier. Fewer than 10 flamingos are spotted in Malta every year. The last ones appeared in January at the Għadira Nature Reserve and reportedly disappeared after a break-in, although hunters claimed they had flown out.
