Two blue tits have made an appearance in Malta, only the second sighting in a hundred years. The last two published records are of single blue tits on October 9, 1975, and in the spring of 1908. The birds have been in Malta since December 10; a hunter informed ornithologist Natalino Fenech about their presence. The tiny species weighs just 11 grams. It is a common resident breeder around Europe and western Asia and is not migratory, although some birds may disperse.
