The new Fiat Idea - another model from the Casa Torinese - was yesterday launched by UCIM Co. Ltd at the Reef Club of the Westin Dragonara Resort.

The innovative, stylish, new model was described as an example of technological progress by UCIM marketing manager Ryan Buttigieg.

"It is an intelligent car, its engines being lively performers but decidedly thrifty when it comes to fuel consumption and representing an effective solution in and out of town." The cutting-edge technology of the compact multi-purpose vehicle includes the innovative Skydome sunroof, dual zone climate control system and other state-of-the-art automatic devices, such as the Dualdrive electric power steering, My Car onboard computer and the follow-me-home function.

Mr Buttigieg said: "The Fiat Idea is an ideal vehicle for young families who are always on the go; a faithful companion in town traffic on working days and an oasis of relaxation and calm during weekends."

It also offers occupants excellent protection, thanks to a range of active and passive safety features.

Two engines are available: a 1.4 16v MPI 85 bhp and the 1.3 M Jet 2nd generation common rail with 70 BHP. The price of the 1.4 16v petrol version starts from Lm8,250, and Lm8,750 for the 1.3 Multijet diesel, UCIM Co. Ltd sales manager Jonathan Said said.
