Some few months ago, the government had rightly given a substantial monetary increase to State doctors' pay packets.

On hearing this, a few weeks later, the MUT also asked for an increase, although not much time had passed since they too had had one. The excuse was that teachers are also 'professionals'.

I fully agree that teachers are professionals too, but I also think that they are on a different level.

I could not detect any of their professionalism when they let two political relatives have a free ride on their backs along the main road in Valletta.

In my opinion it was a non-event, nobody gained anything.
