I was wondering whether it wasn’t about time to send in another blog and lo and behold, a surfeit of riches presented itself.

To start with, allow me to indulge in a personal rant: who was the intellectually challenged individual who came up with the sublime idea to have a 60KPH limit on dual-carriageways?  I was flashed twice on Thursday evening, in two different places, travelling at around 70 – believe me, that’s not fast.

Dear Dom is still raising Labour hackles, have you noticed?  As we saw on Thursday with Chris Cardona’s performance on Bondi+, the truth really, really irritates Labour and its mouthpieces.   In Cardona’s case, it was the truth about what has been done over the last four years, in Dear Dom’s case, it’s the truth about the Great Leader.

One of the stars to stick his oar lately about Dear Dom was Reno Calleja, who if memory serves was quite a one for sticking up for Chairman Mao’s regime.

According to this reliable historic source (Calleja, not Mao) the documentary fails for a number of reason, one of which being that it neglected to mention the involvement of foreign agents in the bank crashes that took place while his other hero (Mintoff) was running the country.

You see, apparently, the whole thing was engineered by shadowy figures wearing Super Spy Badges issued by the Knesset, though I suspect he meant Mossad.

Foreign interference, anyone?   With people like Calleja in Mintoff’s cabinet, it’s hardly any wonder he got away with so much, when you think about it.

And while on the theme of filthy foreigners, what price that Pullicino Orlando fellow, huh?  He’s now getting all antsy because his Government has indicated that it will support Turkey’s bid to join the EU – according to Pullicino Orlando, his Government has no mandate to do this, and it shouldn’t because Turkey is too poor, there are too many Turks who will flood into Europe and anyway Turkey isn’t culturally European.

Honestly, words almost fail me.  It’s astounding, really, that the views of a soon-to-be has-been (according to his own statements) on a matter of foreign policy are given even a moment’s credence, but leaving that aside, how dare this man get onto his high horse and make statements that have such a racist tinge to them?

I’m not saying he’s racist, but he clearly doesn’t have the slightest idea that he comes over sounding like he is.   Maybe he doesn’t care, just as he doesn’t care that he left out, in his zeal to defend the borders of Europe against the Turkish hordes, the significant point that his Government’s support for the bid is dependent on Turkey fulfilling all relevant criteria.

But as long he makes the news every so often before he fades into blessed oblivion (as he said he wants to), why would he care, when you think about it?
