The 2015 Spanish film Mi Gran Noche (My Big Night) will be screened at St James Cavalier Cinema on Tuesday March 13 at 7.30pm.
The film explores themes of deceit, betrayal and guilt in distinct enclosed spaces within a TV studio and a bar, in which characters are forced into extreme but comical situations. José has been sent by the employment agency as an extra for a New Year’s Eve television special in an industrial pavilion just outside Madrid.
Hundreds of people like him have been locked in there for weeks, applauding for musical performances they don’t actually see and celebrating the false arrival of the new year. As he’s starting to fall for his dinner companion Paloma, he doesn’t know two major clashes of egos are unfolding backstage.
Mi Gran Noche will be screened on Tuesday at 7.30pm at St James Cavalier Cinema, Valletta. Admission is free, courtesy of the Embassy of Spain in Malta and Spazju Kreattiv, but subject to booking. For tickets, visit http://www.kreattivita.org/en/event/mi-gran-noche.
