Zucchero’s successful career has been built around the combination of all-too-Italian histrionics and his passion for African-American music.

Just like many extroverted entertainers before him, as the decades ticked by, there was always the risk of Zucchero turning into a parody of his own persona. But signs of a newfound maturity were already visible in his 2006 album Fly, while critics lauded 2010’s Chocabeck as the album when he reached his understated grandeur.

Chocabeck went straight to the top of the charts of several European countries, winning a Platinum Wind Music Award in the process.

Zucchero, who churned out hits like Sena Una Donna and Con Le Mani, will be performing at the MFCC at Ta’ Qali on Saturday, where he will also be featuring many of his greatest hits together with a 13-piece live band.

Prices starting at €25 are available from www.ticketline.com.mt as well as the MFCC, Frank’s Perfumery at Bay Street, the Plaza, Paola and Energy (Valletta), Farsons Direct and P. Cutajar in Mrieħel and all Go outlets. Ticket hotline is 7927 4747.

The concert is organised by Stand Out Events. For more information visit www.standoutevents.com.mt.
