Argentinean football star and Inter legend Javier Zanetti is set to feature in an advertising campaign about Malta.

Talks between the player and the Malta Tourism Authority are at an advanced stage and the deal is expected to be finalised by the end of the month.

Contacted by Times of Malta, MTA chairman Gavin Gulia yesterday confirmed the news but said that further details would be announced once the deal is finalised.

Zanetti, who turns 41 in August, is still on the books of Internazionale FC having joined them way back in 1995. The outgoing loyal midfielder was part of the squad that in 2010 won an unprecedented treble in Italian football, clinching the domestic double and the Champions League in a single season.

The most decorated player in the history of Inter, who is well acquainted with Inter supporters in Malta, will be holding a coaching clinic for children at the Luxol Sports Ground between May 30 and June 1.

This will be his second visit to the island in the space of eight months following his first one last October when he was the guest of Inter Club Malta.
