During their visit the Maltese youths, together with those from the Italian association, participated in workshops that highlighted survival skills with diabetes as a common factor. They shared and discussed their life with diabetes and the tools at their disposal to ensure correct glycemic control. The Maltese group were also taken on a guided tour of Palermo and tasted local delicacies. The group was led by Anna Zammit McKeon, president of the Maltese Diabetes Association, Moira Grixti, practice nurse in diabetes, and Dr Christine Bajada, resident specialist in diabetes and endocrinology.
