Four Teatru Manoel Youth Theatre (TMYT) members – Becky Camilleri, Tina Rizzo, Anton Saliba and Gianni Selvaggi – will today perform a double-bill of extended excerpts from two plays – Lungs by Duncan Macmillan and Disco Pigs by Enda Walsh.
The Guardian describes Lungs as a distinctive, off-kilter love story which is brutally honest, funny, edgy and current. On Disco Pigs, the (UK) Independent stated that “the exquisite, knuckle-gnawing agony of teenage-hood is inhabited in Enda Walsh’s brilliant early play, which is a raw exploration of two young minds and bodies plagued by their own inexperience, who relish destruction”.
TMYT forms part of Toi Toi, the Manoel Theatre’s educational programme and falls under the tutelage of theatre practitioner Denise Mulholland. The TMYT troupe combine their own devised work, while exploring various theatrical techniques.
The two performances will be presented in the Manoel Theatre’s Studio Theatre, Valletta, at 3pm and 8pm. Tickets are available online.
