Young pianist and composer Maria Mifsud, who lives in Kerċem, was recently awarded a prestigious semi-final place in the US Song of the Year 2012 online competition (www.songoftheyear.com) in the instrumental category with her composition Moirai.

The panel of judges included Sting, Paul McCartney and Rihanna.

Previously, she had received an honourable mention with her song Encounters.
