Julian Frazier, the son of Vanessa Frazier, Malta’s Ambassador for Italy, had a trial with the youth academy of Roma on Wednesday.

Frazier, who turned 11 on June 29, received an official invitation to undergo a trial with the Serie A club’s youth academy after catching the eye of the Roma coaches during two summer camps held recently at CONI’s Giulio Onesti sports complex.

Frazier, who plays for the Rome-based Orange Futbol Club, achieved excellent marks and was twice named Most Valuable Player at the end of the summer camps.

This year, the Roma Academy reportedly received around 2,000 trial applications.

Meanwhile, young Maltese player Romario Camilleri is set to join the youth squad of Italian Serie B club Frosinone.

Camilleri is understood to have left a very positive impression on the Frosinone coaches as well as the attending scouts while playing for the Malta Under-17 team in friendly games against San Cesareo and hosts Frosinone last month.

The Maltese side, led by Argentine coach Sergio Soldano whose contract has not been renewed by the MFA, won the two friendlies with an identical 3-1 scoreline.

Camilleri played in both games and his performances in central defence prompted Frosinone, spearheaded by sporting director Ernesto Salvini, to make a formal approach for his signature. The 16-year-old, who played for Birkirkara’s U-17 team last season, is expected to fly out to Rome early next month to start pre-season training with the Frosinone youth squad.
