St James Cavalier, Valletta, is organising the Young Cavaliers’ Club, a summer club for children and youths.

There will be a choice of two programmes, which both aim to encourage children to work creatively as individuals as well as in a team.

The programmes explore art techniques as well as music and movement, drama games and improvisation to help children build confidence and self-esteem.

The first programme, which caters for children aged six to 12, will be held every Tuesday and Thursday between July 5 and September 15. During the course, children will work on a chosen script, culminating in the production of a musical play.

The second programme caters for children aged four to 12 and will be held every Wednesday and Friday from July 6 to September 16. By working on a theme-based project and using materials provided, children will create their own art installation and make their own short film.

Parents will be invited to see the final performance and all of the children’s work during the last week of the summer club.

Each class starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. and the fee for the 10-week course is €140. If two or more children from the same family apply, the fee is reduced to €125 per child.

There will be no classes during the week of August 15-19.

There will also be a workshop for teenagers aged 13 to 16 every Monday from July 4 to September 12.

This workshop will encourage youths to use visual arts and drama in order to develop a sense of self. Students will be taught about some of the world’s most popular artists and be able to experiment in their style.
