The first underwater documentary to exclusively feature the Mġarr ix-Xini marine protected area (MPA) has recently been uploaded online on You Tube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3tVoY4hlts, where it has already attracted the attention of thousands of online viewers.

The documentary is the first locally produced film of its kind to combine aerial footage shot from an autonomous drone with stunning underwater footage.

Its executive producer is marine biologist Alan Deidun, and the production was directed by Monolith Ltd under the guidance of director Pedja Miletic and veteran underwater film-maker Shaun Arrigo. It was financed as part of the Panacea project.

Two other underwater documentaries have already been produced by the project, one featuring Dwejra in Gozo (www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArJOWrwwz98) and another featuring Rdum Majjiesa in Malta (www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzpPK1pAlLA).

In total, all three Panacea documentaries have to date been viewed over 20,000 times.
