Norwich City have enjoyed seven seasons in the Premier League in three different spells.

The last episode started in 2011 and ended in May this year as the Canaries went crushing down to the Championship.

In attempt to salvage their status, the East Anglian side altered their man at the helm.

Out went Chris Hughton in early April and in came Neil Adams on caretaker basis. However, the move failed to yield dividends as Norwich finished third from bottom.

They had shy attackers in their side, managing a paltry total of 28 goals, the least in the Premier League.

Norwich are one of the yo-yo clubs in English football and are on a downward spiral again.

The great gap between Norwich and the elite teams made the Canaries look like a side two divisions behind.

Last summer, the board backed Hughton with the money to improve the squad. The £8.5 million spent on Dutch striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel was money down the drain though, given that the 25-year-old scored one goal in the entire campaign.

Southampton ended their season in their highest Premier League finish ever, eighth on 56 points.

Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino left the Saints this summer, however, for Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Southampton subsequently appointed Ronald Koeman as his replacement on June 16, signing a three-year deal.

The former Feyenoord boss is joined by his brother Erwin as assistant manager, and Jan Kluitenberg as fitness coach.

Pochettino made his first showing at St Mary Stadium in January 2013 to replace the sacked Nigel Adkins.

Southampton had Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw and Rickie Lambert selected for the England national team at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

In the League Cup last season, Norwich lasted until the fourth round, going down 0-4 at Manchester United. In the FA Cup they went out at the first time of asking in a third round replay at Fulham 0-3.

Southampton were bracketed with the dark horses for one of the two domestic honours.

Yet, in the League Cup they exited at Sunderland 1-2 in the fourth round and in the FA Cup they were beaten again by the Black Cats in the fifth round 0-1.
