Yellow Pages (Malta) Ltd recently installed a photovoltaic system including over 184 panels that will save an estimated 55,000 tons of C02 emissions per annum.

The PV system currently feeds over 65 per cent of the air-conditioning load required for the Ark Publishing complex.

The system capacity is 46 kilowatts, which at peak solar radiation can yield over 40 kilowatts of electrical energy.

This is the equivalent of the power required by over 80 standard households, or the power needed to light up 2,666 street decoration lamps, or 5,700 household energy-saving lamps.

The company estimates that the system will provide an annual total of 62 megawatt hours or 62,000 units, which is well over the annual consumption of more than 12 apartments.

The system was jointly funded by the company’s own funding and EU and national funding under the Operational Programme 1 – Cohesion Policy 2007-2013 that aims to help sustain such projects undertaken by local companies.
