A property development project in Xemxija, led by Gold Lion Construction, which started last May, will be completed in summer 2018.

The clay ground where the project is being built on wasn’t solid enough to construct a seven-floor building safely. Therefore, piling needed to be implemented by drilling down 19 metres into the ground to create a more solid structure and foundation for the property.

Due to the unique site conditions, a piling machine was lifted to the roof of the building to place the piles via the rooftop to ensure that the available space is efficiently utilised while keeping safety a priority. Well organised teamwork was required to implement the plans: Vassallo Group carried out the designing and installation of the support structure, Terracore Ltd is responsible for the piling works, while the entire process was monitored by architect Ivan Muscat.

The seven-floor project will have five units of two-bedroomed properties. All of the units will enjoy sea views, with balconies or terraces. According to the layout plans, on the top level there will be a duplex penthouse with two bedrooms and two bathrooms plus a large sea-facing terrace, an additional three two-bedroom apartments on each floor and a duplex maisonette with a backyard and balcony with sea view.
