To celebrate World Tourism Day, the Grand Hotel Excelsior in Floriana recently hosted a reception in its lobby for guests and staff from around the world.

Guests included Simon Green from Mediterranean Ceramics, who worked live on a bust of Jules Verne; Clayton Micallef, who worked live on a contemporary painting; Sue Bencini, who presented her collections of handmade jewels using semi-precious stones from around the world; and Dame Françoise Tempra, who exhibited paintings and lithographs from 20 countries from her own private collection.

Various embassies also took part by presenting information about their countries.

The Harbour View Bar served typical cocktails from around the globe, while Le Grand Spa featured special packages on treatments originating from various cultures.

In the evening, an international buffet was served at the Admiral’s landing, presenting cuisines from Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and the Mediterranean.
