London Mayor Boris Johnson revealed a hidden musical talent by performing a cover of Jessie J’s hit Bang Bang on air.

The Tory politician recited the lyrics to the chart-topping song as he appeared as a guest on the Capital breakfast show. Boris J was urged to emulate Jessie by presenters Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon, as listeners heard him tackle lines such as: “Bang bang, all over you, I’ll let you have it, crikey.”

Capital has also put together a video of his appearance on the show, which concluded with him pulling on a woolly hat and preparing to leave. (PA)

Saucy letters set to become hit

A long lost series of erotic letters could become a literary hit after a book deal was struck following their discovery in a Paris apartment.

The cache of messages dating from the 1920s, from a young woman called Mademoiselle Simone to her married lover named Charles, are said to become increasingly explicit as their relationship develops.

They were discovered in an apartment by French diplomat Jean Yves Berthault and are now to be published around the world, with deals struck just two months before the cinematic debut of best-selling erotic novel 50 Shades Of Grey. (PA)

Apology after nuts flight row

Korean Air has apologised for inconveniencing passengers after the daughter of its chairman ordered a crew member off a flight for serving bagged nuts in first class.

The flight from New York City to Incheon, South Korea, returned to the gate after Cho Hyun-ah told the head of cabin crew to leave the plane. The flight departed 20 minutes late. Ms Cho is vice-president responsible for cabin service at the airline.

Korean Air says it was “natural” for Ms Cho to fault crew’s ignorance of procedures.

The nuts should have been served on a plate. It said it will step up training to improve customer service and safety. (PA)

Thief stole letters out of boredom

A US postal worker accused of stealing as many as 2,000 pieces of mail said she did so out of boredom.

Sharon Berrien is accused of pocketing any cash from the post and dumping the leftovers. She was charged with stealing mail while working at a Detroit mail processing centre.

Investigators say that when they asked her why she did it, she told them: “I was bored.” She said she did not have any financial problems. (PA)

High heels bowling men over

Scientists say men behave very differently around women who wear high-heel shoes.

A study, published online in the journal Archives of Sexual Behaviour, found that if a woman drops a glove on the street while wearing heels, she is almost 50 per cent more likely to have a man pick it up for her than if she is wearing flats.

It also showed that a woman wearing heels is twice as likely to persuade men to stop and answer survey questions on the street, and a high-heeled woman in a bar waits half the time to get talked to by a man, compared to when her heel is nearer to the ground. (PA)
