Apple’s latest iPhone models are the smartphones most likely to be targeted by thieves, according to a new government list for consumers.

The list, based on data for the period August 2012 to January 2014, is topped by the Apple iPhone models 5, 5C, 5S and 4S, followed by the Blackberry 9790 in fifth place. Samsung Galaxy and HTC phones also feature on the index.

Biggest band for world record

“Britain’s biggest band” yesterday performed on a beach to break the world record for the largest group of guitarists playing together.

More than 3,000 people took part in the Guitars On The Beach event in Lyme Regis, Dorset, led by Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan.

Organiser Geoff Baker told the BBC: “The whole town got involved. The local mackerel fishermen went out on their boats and when Ian Gillan played Smoke on the Water they released smoke grenades, so there was literally smoke on the water.”

James Bond’s burned bottom

Sir Roger Moore has described how an accident on a Bond set once left him with a burning bottom. The actor told BBC Radio 4 the mis-timed explosion happened during the filming of The Spy Who Loved Me in 1977, adding: “I was seriously on fire and it was terrible pain. I had to go to the sister every day and have Vaseline dressings changed on my rear end.”

Director John Glen said: “At a certain time the special-effects man was to make the explosion. But he mistimed it and it finished up with Roger running around the set with his trousers alight.”

Mitchell only managed to get to 134 in the album chart with her first release and previously complained that no one was “on my side from the start” as she was unhappy she was made to bring the record out almost a year after her 2012 win.

Escaped deadly cobra warning

Residents of a Dutch village are treading carefully after learning that a highly-poisonous cobra may be slithering around in their neighbourhood.

Authorities in the village of Made – 60 miles south of Amsterdam – warned residents to keep their doors and windows shut. The snake’s owner reported it missing at the end of the week.

The local authority says citizens are allowed to leave their homes but should remain alert as a bite from the 27-inch Cape cobra – usually found only in South Africa – can be deadly.
