Prince Harry will receive a £10 million birthday present when he turns 30, the Sunday Times reported.

The prince has been able to access only the interest on his late mother Diana’s fortune for the past five years, but he will obtain his full entitlement when he reaches 30.

His older brother, Prince William, received a similar amount when he turned the same age.

Is it the world’s biggest disco ball?

Organisers at a music festival believe they may have created the world’s biggest disco ball.

Bestival’s co-curator Rob da Bank, said: “We’ve built a beauty and we’re certain this disco ball is a record breaker. So certain, in fact, that we’ve invited the nice people from Guinness World Records to come and confirm it.”

Bestival runs from September 4 to 7 at Robin Hill Country Park, Isle of Wight.

Awkward task for firefighter crew

Firefighters were called to cut off a ring that had become stuck on a man’s penis, Crawley News reported.

A crew from Reigate Fire Station were called to the Redhill hospital as medical staff were unable to remove the ring themselves. Firefighters spent an hour removing it – and had to use a hacksaw to get it off. It is not clear how it had become stuck.

A firefighter said: “It was more of a keyring-style ring than a finger ring. We had to cut it off; we ended up using a hacksaw.”

Mayor had a taste for humiliation

Toronto mayor Rob Ford once made players on a high school football team roll in goose droppings, newly released documents have shown.

The scandal-plagued mayor was fired last year from a side-job as a volunteer coach at Don Bosco high school after he made disparaging remarks to a TV network about parents and their children.

The documents from Toronto’s Catholic School Board come as Ford seeks re-election on October 27. His brother and campaign manager, Doug Ford, called the documents “fictitious rumours and allegations”.

Oops, we busted the wrong door!

The drugs bust was perfectly planned. Unfortunately, Austrian police broke down the wrong door.

Police official Josef Knoflach confirmed that a Swat team that used a battering ram to bust into a flat at daybreak and surround its sleeping tenant with guns drawn was actually meaning to target the neighbouring dwelling.

Mr Knoflach said police in the southern city of Klagenfurt had a hard time reading the apartment numbers because they decided to leave the hall lights off so as not to arouse suspicion. They subsequently went next door and found cocaine, cannabis and what police call a suspicious amount of cash. Two men are in custody.

US at war against slimy invaders

The giant African snail damages buildings, destroys crops and can cause meningitis in humans. But some people still want to collect, and even eat, the slimy invaders.

The US Agriculture Department is trying to stop them. Since June, department authorities have seized more than 1,200 live specimens of the large snails, all of them traced back to someone in Georgia who was selling them illegally.

After receiving a tip, the department in June seized more than 200 snails from a person on Long Island, New York, who identified the seller in Georgia. The department then interviewed the seller and seized almost 1,000 more snails.
